By seven votes in favor and six against, the Economy Committee of the Chilean Chamber of Deputies approved the idea of legislating the bill of law that improves the protection of the rights of consumers regarding their individual interests by strengthening the National Consumer Service (“SERNAC”) (Bulletin 16271-03). The bill is known as “SERNAC Protects You” (SERNAC Te Protege) since it aims to grant SERNAC sanctioning powers.
By virtue of the general approval of the idea of legislating, now the Chilean Congress must initiate the specific discussion of the bill.
