Canadian gold mining company Osisko Gold Royaties has hired Bennet Jones in Canada; Fieldfisher LLP in the UK; Walkers in the Cayman Islands; Paul Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison in the US; Carey in Chile; and CMS Grau in Peru to advise on its acquisition of a precious metals portfolio from US private equity firm Orion Mine Finance Group for US$895 million.
ASW Law in Bermuda and Australian firm Allion Partners are also thought to have advised Osisko, but this could not be confirmed before publication.
Orion took counsel from Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP in Canada; Ropes & Gray LLP in the US; Baker McKenzie (Chile); Hernández & Cía Abogados and Rodrigo, Elías y Medrano Abogados in Peru; and Gilbert + Tobin in Australia. Sánchez, Mejorada, Velasco y Ribé SC in Mexico, Appleby in Bermuda, and Simmons & Simmons in the UK are also thought to have advised Orion, but this could not be confirmed before publication.
As part of the deal, Orion acquires a silver stream on the Mantos Blancos copper mine in Antofagasta, Chile; royalties from the Ollachea gold mine in southern Peru; and offtakes from the Parral silver mine in Chihuahua, Mexico. The operator of the Chilean mine, Mantos Copper, hired Shearman & Sterling in New York and Baker McKenzie (Chile).
The deal closed on 31 July.
