On January 14, 2025, the Undersecretary of Telecommunications (hereinafter “Subtel”) published Exempt Resolution No. 90/2025, which “calls for a public consultation on infrastructure sharing policy to reduce the digital divide”.
This consultation arose after the promulgation of Law No. 21.678, which recognizes the Internet as a Public Service and modified some aspects of General Telecommunications Law.
Among the modifications that were made is the inclusion of the principle of “Infrastructure Sharing”, for whose application Subtel has initiated a public consultation process that allows an analysis of the current policy regarding this sharing, and with that, to develop and implement new tools to generate a proposal for a Long-Term Infrastructure Sharing Policy.
The consultation process is open from January 15, 2025, until March 20, 2025 at 23:59 hours.
