His professional practice is focused on natural resources, mining and energy, as well as transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and project development and financing.


REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE

  • Codelco on an association agreement with Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile (SQM), which regulates all the stages, rights, obligations and terms and conditions to optimize, modernize, and enhance the lithium production in the Atacama salt flat (salar de Atacama) between the years 2025 and 2060.
  • Compañía Minera Teck Quebrada Blanca on the expansion of its hypogene project for USD6.2 billion.
  • Minera Mantos de Oro, a subsidiary of Kinross Gold, on the acquisition of the La Coipa gold and silver mine. Mantos de Oro took full ownership of the assets by creating a spin-off of its joint venture with Cominor, which it subsequently bought from Cominor.
  • Barrick Gold Corporation on the sale of a 50% interest in the Zaldívar copper mine in Chile to Antofagasta PLC for USD1.005 billion, forming a new partnership with one of the world’s leading copper companies.
  • Teck Carmen de Andacollo, a Chilean subsidiary of Teck Resources, on the execution of a long-term offtake agreement and a streaming agreement with different subsidiaries of Royal Gold.
  • Aela Energía on a long-term loan for USD435 million to finance the construction of two wind farms, Aurora and Sarco, that inject 299MW to the national grid, and to refinance the existing loan that Cuel Wind Farm has with China Development Bank.
  • A mid-size mining company on the sale of mining assets located in the central region of Chile, for USD30.7 million, plus a NSR royalty.
  • Minera Valle Central on financing the construction and expansion of its plant for processing, exploitation, extraction and transport of tailings located in the VI region of Chile, for USD64 million approx.
  • Codelco on the judicial constitution of mining easements for its copper project Radomiro Tomic to obtain the necessary rights to use the surface land for the development of Codelco’s new projects and their facilities.
