Alicorp Perú’s Chilean fish food subsidiary, Vitapro, has hired Carey to obtain a US$40 million loan from Japan’s Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation to settle existing debt.
Baker & McKenzie’s Chicago, Lima and Santiago offices advised the lender. Alicorp, a subsidiary of Peruvian industrial conglomerate Grupo Romero, acted as guarantor, relying on its parent company’s in-house team for counsel. The deal closed on 26 October.
